The march came not that long after an elected Conservative government imposed a pay freeze on nurses. The trade union movement came up with an idea that unions would take action in support of the nurses. However not many took  action or indeed got involved in the protest,  our trade union nationally did, but the Postal Executive did state that any  strike action would be repudiated.
